Nicole's Bridal Shower Means Boys Day Out

When Nicole and Ron became engaged in June 2007 the wedding seemed far in the future. It didn't take long to realize that there was a lot of planning to do and the day would come sooner than we'd like. The Bridal Shower, the first planned event leading up to the big day, came and went on Saturday June 14. About 45 women congregated at our home which meant there was going to be a lot of high volume discussions so the boys were heading for the road. Connie, the Bridal Party members, and the groom to be's mom transformed the house into a small event hall. It took a bit of work but the house looked great and the women had a blast. Take a look at a few clips from the party. One of the highlights at these soirees is winning prizes playing games. The clips include one manly game.

Besides the lemon game there was a competition for teams of four to design, make, and model a wedding dress. The teams were imaginative and gave it all on the runway. An attempt to send a bouquet of ballons on which wishes were enscribed into the heavens ended up in a tree 40 feet down wind.

While the ladies were living the good life, the boys and I headed out to have our own fun. After grabbing a quick bite at Carl Jr.'s, we checked out the electronics at Best Buy in Torrance which was around the corner from the fast food joint. Fighting off all urges to pick up a gadget, any gadget, we went to the Gable House to knock down some pins. It was a least a year since I last went bowling and prior to that had bowled only once in 13 years. Since it was late afternoon there was no waiting to get a lane. We bowled 2 games each before my arm was going to fall out. From there we headed to Sam Ash where we checked out the latest in musical instruments and accessories. We ended out day by enjoying the current local dessert fad- Pinkberry yogurt.
