Softball Fun

Thursday nights are blocked out for me for choir practice which starts shortly after 7:30 PM. That has been the case since about July 2002. However, last week our choir director moved rehearsal to Wednesday for that one week. On a normal night rehearsal entails a sequence of prayer, music review for the upcoming weekend service, and a look ahead to one or two pieces planned in future weeks. Getting out by 8:15 is then the norm but this time of year is the busy season for those of us in religious music ministries. Even numbered years presents the opportunity for the choir to put on a "show" in December. For one night, and one night only, an entertaining yet inspirational recital is shared to anyone who aimlessly wonders in looking for the gift wrap sale. This will be my fourth concert and is shaping up to be the best one yet. Besides harmonious arrangemets of newer Christmas songs a short tribute to Charles Schulz "Peanuts" is offered for your enjoyment. I will have a part in the skit so if you can't attend in person you can ensure witnessing this spectacle by placing your DVD order now.

Spectacles of this magnitude don't just happen. Rehearsals now clock past 10 and extend to two a week. Good Grief - my throat is sore.

This meandering intro is a lead in to how we had the good fortune to be available to watch the older "children" play and compete. Don't they look nice in their uniforms! Balla Outta Control is a team moniker suitable for the best of Beer League play. How do I explain the name to Buddy, Dinker, and Roxie?

Since a camera just happened to be in my sweet wife's purse the fortuitous snapshots are now displayed. Yes, harsh night time lighting of humans in motion could not be a more ideal setting to take blurry dark pictures. We did not disappoint!

We will never know if it was the camera or vigorous cheering but the team controlled their balls much better than the other team and came away with the lopsided victory. It took me a while to realize that the team is comprised of mostly wedding party members from the two joyous recent events. Too bad the photos lacked depth and light in many cases. In the end I took a group shot of those you couldn't get away when Connie yelled out- don't go Leo wants to take a team picture.

We are so proud of the little ones- all grown up now.
