After shaking off the tryptophan buzz from ingesting all the turkey and other great eats, panic ensued with the realization that the short shopping season had begun. We passed on the black Friday fun but instead dragged the boxes of Christmas decorations out of the garage. Last year Connie picked up a slightly used artificial tree at a garage sale and was anxious to set it up. Tbe collage shows the tree at two different phases of assembly.
Although we loved our tree last year and its placement in the front room, the boys insisted that we move it back where it belongs- in the den. So by next weekend we will go to Target and buy a fresh tree- noble pine. Tbe fresh tree will be the main tree- family portrait backdrop, presents tucked underneath, etc.
While the missus built a tree, the boys and I handled the outside lights. Last year was the first time we hung lights on the house after the remodel although it was the second season in which the opportunity presented itself. The first year we couldn't decide how to get up on the roof without hiring someone to do so. The cash flow was constipated at the time which forced us to go low- we decorated the lawn and shrubs. Eh- it was okay. School kids loved unscrewing the lights along the edge of the lawn and smashing them into the pavement.
We got braver last year and decided to put lights up as far as we could reach comfortably. The result was underwelming since the higher pitch in the front made the team of Connie and Leo sweat at very low altitudes. We didn't wait for a nose bleed to signal unsafe heights. So we decided to send the brave youngins up on the rooftop- first level only! This year the boys repeated the efforts although despite instructions to do otherwise, they climbed onto the second level roof. No lights went up there. The end result for all the work was less than envisioned but there are a couple of weeks to touch it up.
We'll see how much gets inproved.
