Welcome to New Readers-and old ones too!

I did not realize that it has been a while since my last post. So maybe I just did not have anything useful to say or perhaps-just too much Christmas prepping. The holidays are exciting because of the rushes. The rush to get gifts, the rush to ready the house, the rush to finish off tasks at work-you name it.

As far as buying gifts goes I highly recommend hiring a professional buyer or-better yet get a wife. Wives readily tabulate a list of likes, dislikes, nice to haves all year long. They are so thoughtful! Their only problem is limiting choices to one or two gifts. As for me, I couldn't tell you how many placemats so and so has that match their fall season centerpiece. I couldn't tell you what the color of... of.... of... anything is in their home. But wives do. In addition to human senses women possess intuitive aura scanning abilities. Being a man I can't comprehend these abilities. Kind of like trying to understand the Electoral college.

Needless to say, I applaud and celebrate the females inherent superior abilities in these matters. Let them shop! Oh, wait-not with the credit Card! With the good comes the bad. Maybe hiring a professional is an option worth pursuing next year.

So I miss out on the shopping rush but balance that out with the anxiety associated with waiting for the credit card bill to arrive. Reminiscent of waiting for that college acceptance letter to arrive. Is the envelope fat or thin. Whereas then thin was bad, here thin is good. Please let the list be short and the digits few. Just like getting that cell phone bill and wondering what the....

Don't get the wrong impression. I do shop and not all on line. Even wrap presents. Yes, another gift women are naturally blessed with and for which I would be thoughtless to not allow to nurture. In the end my contribution to the gift mound under the tree is minor not because of thoughtlessness but rather timing. The day after Thanksgiving is not my target date to finish. Nothing brings on the rush like frantically racing through the mall on December 24 with a short list of 12. Hardly a time for comparison shopping. What did I do before I was married? Male coping skill#3-minimize social circle-I had 2 friends and kept no family nearby. One day I'll review Male coping skill #1, do all meals with one bowl and one fork.

Where is this leading to? Not sure, time to go to sleep.

Merry Christmas.
