Thanks to my Sister-In-Law Margie who decided to give her newly won tickets to an old fogey couple she knows, Connie and I were going to the Hollywood Bowl. But we did not exactly certain what to expect from the former lead singer of the Supremes, Diana Ross, who was the headlining act. It had been a while since she made any headlines or made the rounds with a major tour. How old is she anyway and how is her health? Will she come out onto the stage on a Rascal mobility scooter with someone controling her cart to pop wheelies around the stage while lip drooling (synching) her hits? Were we surprised! Have no idea how old she is but she put on an elegant, glamorous and exciting show. The band and back up singers were first rate and she looked gorgeous and sexy. And the lady can still strut around and sing ..... at the same time. Here is a small clip from the show.
The warm up act was the LA Philharomic Orchestra which put on a lively show with an emphasis on major blues/jazz pieces. We had a great time listening to great music in a wonderful outdoor setting in the Hollywood Hills. The only down side was the parking which is fairly limited. Next time we'll have a better plan and hopefully won't have to wait an hour to get out of the lot.
By the way, for another review of the concert but with a comic bent, read Len's blog http://lenspeaks.blogspot.com/2008/07/supreme-o.html

Yep, I was there, too, and I have a blog piece devoted to the evening tomorrow. I am sorry we couldn't connect via cell phone.
